To be honest, I never knew about poop eating until Happy does it. You can find many online articles that explain why dogs eat poop – medical and behavioural reasons. It would help if you spoke to your veterinarian to rule out any possible medical issues.

Disgusting as it seems, I tried every way and means that fellow dog owners suggested – prebiotics, probiotics, pineapple, tabasco sauce, chili flakes, poop deterrent, stool repel. None works for Happy. The stress also contributed to my puppy blues, and I wasted lots of time and effort. I would suggest you can try the following

1. Be Clean

Keep things clean. Pick up the poop immediately, and you can do it when you are supervising your puppy/dog on walks or in the yard, or at home.

2. Feed The Best Diet You Can

Make sure he’s eating a raw, whole, varied diet of quality proteins. Raw food has those digestive enzymes your dog needs to help him process his meals. If you’re feeding cooked food only, you’ll want to add digestive enzymes. Raw, green tripe is particularly high in digestive enzymes, as well as probiotics.

3. Add Supplements When Needed

Talk to your veterinarian before administrating any supplement to a puppy. I once fed yogurt that caused Happy to have diarrhea for a week. Do a proper check-up, find out what deficiency your puppy/dog is suffering, and complement the correct supplement.
